Our Story

Meet the Team
A Decade of Excellence in the Business of Play

Sick Puppies Comedy was founded on a simple but ambitious premise: that improv is more than just "making things up." It is a sophisticated discipline of communication, leadership, and community. Since 2012, we have served as the premier home for long-form improvisation in South Florida, anchored by our permanent venue, The Doghouse Theater in Delray Beach.

Meet the Visionaries

Our leadership combines decades of traditional theater training with a deep, philosophical understanding of the improvisational art form. We don’t just perform improv; we literally write the books on it.

-
Casey Casperson (Founder & Director): A graduate of the renowned theater program at the University of Evansville, Casey studied alongside industry icons like Rami Malek and Jack McBrayer. He has spent over 25 years navigating the intersection of performance and professional development. As a student of the Chicago-style methods taught at iO (Improv Olympic) and The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), Casey is the author of an upcoming industry operational manual, focusing on the "improv ecosystem"—a methodology for building sustainable, high-performing creative cultures.
-
Tom Neile (Founding Member): A true philosopher of the craft, Tom brings a wealth of experience as the former part-owner of a highly successful improv company prior to the founding of The Doghouse Theater. He is the author of the critically acclaimed Tao of Improv series. Spanning four volumes, these books are considered essential reading for serious improvisers, blending the wisdom of the Tao Te Ching with the technical mechanics of scenic performance.

A Proven Track Record

Sick Puppies Comedy has built a reputation for quality that extends far beyond Delray Beach. Our cast and curriculum have been vetted by the most prestigious institutions in the world, with performances and workshops featured at:
-
The Del Close Marathon (UCB, NYC)
-
The Chicago Musical Improv Festival (iO)
-
The Sarasota Improv Festival
-
The Miami Improv Festival
The Improv Ecosystem
At Sick Puppies, we believe in the "Ecosystem." This idea is that a theater is only as strong as its community. We provide a "clubhouse" environment at The Doghouse where students can grow from their first Level 1 class to becoming seasoned mainstage performers. Simultaneously, our corporate training wing applies the same "Yes, And" principles to help major organizations streamline communication and strengthen their teams.
Whether you are here for a night of world-class comedy or to master a new skill, you are stepping into a legacy of craftsmanship and professional expertise.
Welcome to the Pack.
